My fortress attracted no migrants this season, probably because of all the deaths. I usually don't know what I want from the traders even without wagons anyway. I still haven't solved whatever the problem is with the road leading to the trade depot, but whatever. It's quite a ways down from the actual fortress proper, so I guess I'm just going to keep gradually working my way down from there, and maybe we'll eventually find a better entry point.
#Dwarf fortress gelding how to
I don't actually know how to get to the floor of the caverns - when my dwarves breached them, they were on a small ledge next to a lot of open space. So I'm guessing maybe a cat freaked out and attacked the gelder, but somebody else happened to be nearby and got injured, and one thing led to another. Sometimes the animals don't take kindly to that and attack the dwarf who's trying to do it to them. Dwarf Fortress - Quick Tutorial - Animal Husbandry, Butchering, Training, Zones and Gelding. Another factor is that the fortress was being overrun by stray cats and dogs and it was starting to get out of control, so I had queued up a whole bunch of them for gelding. It could have been one of those kids throwing a tantrum, but I didn't see a notification about that happening. Immediately after loading up the game today, I found that there was a huge brawl going on and dwarves were dying left and right.
